Michael Walker

VA3MW / Guest Speaker

Mike was licensed in 1974 and has always loved technology. His first ‘real’ job was with IBM, working on an actual Tube computer that had 64,000 tubes, in a NORAD site that was 600ft underground at the height of the cold war. He is currently tinkering in EME digital modes and 10Ghz microwave, and is also a GA Pilot.

About the Presentation

A look at why the superheterodyne architecture that has dominated radio design since 1918 may finally have met its match. Michael covers the fundamental limitations of analog mixing, how direct sampling SDR technology overcomes them, and walks through the full FlexRadio product line including the Aurora, a revolutionary 500-watt all-in-one transceiver.
