Our Public Service Mission
The Vienna Wireless Society was founded, in part, to promote activities that use radio communication skills and knowledge while serving the public interest and welfare. Specifically, many of the Club’s members are trained and certified to provide emergency communications support to the local communities and emergency service organizations.
Public Service Projects
Our members provide critical assistance during natural disasters and community events.

Emergency Response
Providing communications assistance during state or national natural disaster responses.
Community Events
Assisting the Dyer-Gunnell American Post 180 and the town of Vienna during the annual Halloween Parade and 5k races.
Marathon Support
Providing voice and digital communications assistance to medical teams during the Marine Corps Marathon.
Certifications & Training
Club members are certified in the following systems to ensure professional-grade emergency support: Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), AUXCOMM (AUX-C), and Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS). Many members are also active in Fairfax County Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT).
